Chapter Four

Luigi and Toadette made good time in getting back to the castle. Just as they reached the door, Luigi stopped.

"Luigi?" Toadette asked. Said plumber gulped.

"Yes?" He asked.

"Are you okay?" She asked. Luigi closed his eyes for a moment, took a deep breath, and nodded, strolling right up to the doors and throwing them open. Bowser was in the entrance hall, looking bored. Toadsworth and Kammy Koop, on the other hand…

"I tell you, his moodiness is here only to talk to that blasted plumber!" Kammy Koop yelled.

"Now see here! I don't believe any of this tish-tosh! Where are Princesses Peach and Daisy?" Toadsworth yelled back.

"Who's this 'Princess Daisy', anyway?" Bowser asked. Kammy Koop flew over to him.

"The one who punched you, your grunginess, when you tried to steal a star from her and Mario." She whispered in his ear.

"OH! HER!" Bowser yelled, his anger skyrocketing at the memory from that particular party… "When I find her again~!"

"You won't do anything to her!" Luigi yelled in one of his rare moments of courage. That courage immediately disappeared as Bowser and Kammy Koop turned to face him.

"Who are you again?" Bowser asked, his earlier confusion coming back.

"Mario's younger brother, your madness." Kammy Koop supplied, again.

"WHAT!? Who called Linguini here!?" Bowser demanded.

"Master Luigi!" Toadsworth cried, running over to him before Luigi could correct Bowser with his name. "The Princesses are missing!"

"No they're not. They're with Mario…" Luigi said, confused at the fact that Toadsworth didn't know this.

"Speaking of that no good lousy plumber, where is he?" Bowser demanded.

"H-he wasn't able to come." Luigi stammered, trying to summon that earlier spark of courage. "W-what do you want?"

"I…" Bowser started, clenching his teeth together, then sighing in what seemed to be defeat. "My Kingdom was taken over." He said. There were many gasps from the watching toads.

"So what? You plan to take over this one?" Toadsworth demanded.

"No. I wanted help from Mario to get mine back." Bowser growled.

Violet moved through the shadows into the house. She knew that both Princesses Peach and Daisy were somewhere in the house, along with Mario, and she figured that they'd be with him, so she decided to get the badge first.

The first place she looked was in Luigi's room. She wasn't sure what she'd find, but she couldn't think of anywhere else to look.

As she rose from the shadows in his room, she noticed how…. CLEAN it was. The walls and ceiling was a nice green color, and the carpet a royal blue. There was nothing on his floor, and the bed was neatly made. In fact, sitting on top of the covers, and this made her giggle slightly, was a stuffed bear. It was so cute!

She shook her head and forced herself to look for the badge. She didn't find it on top of his dresser, or his desk, or his nightstand. After checking a couple more places, she decided the living room. She quickly sunk back into the shadows, shot to the living room, and rose out of the shadows again.

That was her mistake. There was a scream, a crash, and she was suddenly jumped on from behind, an arm wrapped tightly around her neck. In her surprise, she threw herself against the wall, trying to get whoever was on her back off.

"Daisy?" A startled voice called from the hall as Princess Peach walked out, and saw her friend riding on the back of some strange person. She screamed, and there was a thud from Mario's room.

'He's awake!' Violet realized. She knew then that she wouldn't be able to get him, or, perhaps the badge. She needed to get out of there.

In a last ditch effort, she sunk back into the shadows and disappeared from the house.

Luigi walked back to the house, looking at both of the badges in his hands.

Apparently, Bowser's kingdom had been taken over by the same people who had taken his little brother all those years ago, and being cut by the badge changed a person from normal to… mutated.

Luigi knew this was bad, 'cause now that he though about it, that cut on Mario's hand had been from the badge he held carefully in his left hand. The one in his right hand had been dropped by a Koopa that had attacked Bowser's kingdom.

Both were identical.    

Both were clues to where Domino might be.

Just then, right before he turned the corner to where his house was, a girl in all black appeared out of now where and slammed into him. They both fell, and Luigi dropped both badges. She dropped something too.

"Sorry, I wa~" Luigi's words were lost on his tongue as he stared at the girl. She was the scariest thing he'd ever seen. She was deathly white, had wild black hair, glowing yellow eyes, and wolf ears and a tail. She was staring, but not at him. At the two badges.

"The badge!" She gasped, and before he knew what she was doing, she grabbed the badges and vanished into the shadows.

Luigi gasped. "No!" He yelled, scrabbling at the dirt where she disappeared. He realized that he wasn't going to see her again anytime soon and sat back on his heels, upset that he just lost his only clues to finding what happened to Domino. It was then that he saw something sitting in the dirt. It was a badge, slightly different then the ones that he just lost, but with the same symbol. He grabbed it and ran back to the house.
